From today on, there's hardly anything you can't show on your screens. With this release, Lumicast brings your content and your data together in a single platform, and that changes what's possible. On top of that, we've significantly expanded the Pages editor, refined the interface, and laid a foundation under the hood that we'll keep building on for years to come.
Introducing Datasources
With the new Datasources section in the main menu, you can now use data from a wide range of sources directly in Lumicast. Import data from web APIs, calendars and RSS feeds, or push data into Lumicast yourself. From there, you can visualise this data however you want within your pages.
A few examples of what you can do now:
• Combine a Google Sheet with your team schedule and a live weather widget, without writing a single line of code.
• Have a Jira board with open tickets appear automatically on the screen in your engineering room.
• Push data from your own system into Lumicast and build exactly the visualisation you want around it.
To help you get started right away, we've added ready-to-use Datasources for: NS data, news feeds, traffic, weather, GitHub, GitLab, Airtable, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Jira, Microsoft Teams, Stripe and Zermelo.
All data is managed in real time from within Lumicast. If a source is temporarily unreachable, your screens will keep displaying the most recently retrieved data, so your content always stays on screen.
Alongside the existing apps that let you get started right away, this gives you the full flexibility to combine, transform and display data from any source exactly the way you want. No separate tools to stitch together, no custom integrations. Just one environment where the story you want to tell comes to life.
Data that brings your pages to life
Pulling in data is one thing, doing something with it on screen is what makes it truly powerful. With the new data rules and layer visibility you can have elements on your page respond to your data automatically. Think of a banner that only appears during an NS service disruption, a name that turns green as soon as someone checks in, or a widget that hides itself when there's no relevant data. You can combine rules with AND/OR operators, so you build exactly the logic that fits your situation.
A significantly improved Pages editor
The Pages editor has received a major upgrade. Alongside many stability improvements, you'll find new layout options, simpler resolution management (start with the right resolution from the get-go, and use upscale or downscale where needed), and new shapes. The properties sidebar has also become much more user-friendly and now offers many more options, including dedicated controls for working with data.
And perhaps the most noticeable change: the editor is significantly faster. Moving, panning, zooming, rotating and resizing now feel smooth, even on larger pages.
A refined interface
The interface has received a subtle but clearly noticeable refinement. Screens are more compact and easier to read, tables are more organised, and the media library has been polished further. It's not a brand new UI, but you'll definitely feel the difference.

Behind the scenes, we've migrated to a new infrastructure. For you, that means more reliability, more speed, and a platform that's ready to scale with you, whether you have one screen or a hundred.

Changes to playlists and campaigns can now be reviewed before saving via 'Show changes'. You'll see at a glance what you've added or removed before confirming.
