Paul DiPasquale
sculpts a wide range of subjects in a variety of materials,
including portrait statues in bronze, marble and poured aggregate.
He is skilled in working with clay, stone, wood, resin, and
cement. He is adept at woodworking, foundry work, and welding.
Paul specializes in figurative sculpture, and has done work for
Paul Simon Productions, MTV; Virginia Museum; Childrens Museum;
Baltimore Aquarium; Smithsonian Institution; National Air and
Space Museum; Gemini Corporation, and AT&T.
He earned a BA in Social Relations, with distinction, from the
University of Virginia in 1973, then went on to get an MFA in
Sculpture at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in
1977. He has taught at Northern Virginia Community college, The
College of William & Mary, and The Virginia Commonwealth
University. He was awarded the Fathers in Prison Grant Award in
1995, was named Richmonder of the Year by Styles Magazine in 1996,
and was listed in Who's Who.
Among his permanent public installations, Paul has sculpted Oliver
Hill, Esquire, for the Black History Museum of Virginia in bronze
in 1997; Katherine Godwin for Virginia Wesleyan College in bronze
in 1997; The Arthur Ashe Monument for Virginia Heroes Incorporated
and the City of Richmond in bronze and granite in 1996; and
Governor Mills E. Godwin for the Virginia Historical Society and
Virginia Wesleyan College, a bronze edition of 2 in 1996. His solo
exhibitions include the American Academy in Rome, 1996, 1998;
Fulcrum Gallery, Richmond, 1996; Peninsula Fine Arts Museum,
Newport News, Virginia, 1991; University of Richmond, Marsh
Gallery, 1988; and North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh-Durham,
1984.
